JOB PURPOSE |
GAB’s Research Manager shall lead strategic research initiatives, conduct market analyses, track regulatory changes, and provide insights to support informed decision-making. The role also involves fostering collaboration, manage data, and communicate findings, ensuring the association adapts to industry trends and effectively advocates for members’ interests in a dynamic financial landscape. |

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES |
1. Collect, process and analyse economic, financial and statistical data using quantitative and qualitative modelling 2. Compile, analyse, and report data, applying models and statistical techniques to explain economic phenomena, and forecast trends or pattens that could guide future industry decisions on important bank matters and provide policy advice 3. Formulate recommendations, policies or plans in the form of regular research papers to the CEO for review and onward discussions at the Executive Committee meetings of GAB 4. Build a comprehensive database of the economy with particular emphasis on the banking industry with a view to making GAB the one stop desk for all data of industry relevance. 5. Present own work and research findings, share and disseminate technical knowledge with industry practitioners and external audiences through, for example technical reports or publications of articles. 6. Oversee the technical reports section of the GAB website and ensure that it is updated with fresh and insightful information at all times. 7. Provide background material and research that will assist the CEO with policy advice to the Executive Council 8. Assist the Executive Head of research in thought leadership discussions on global trends, the economy, banking and all subjects of the industry relevance and help raise the profile of GAB. 9. Lead industry detailed forward looking competitor assessments with a view to sharing with members for decision making. 10. Manage external benchmarking survey submissions and coordinate distribution of results to the CEO 11. Develop and maintain monthly and quarterly industry useful statistics with extracted analytical trends to form basis for projections. 12. Transform unstructured or ambiguous data into structured and usable datasets that can be analysed to extract insights and improve business processes. 13. Deliver complex and actionable reports that show key performance indicators, identify areas needing industry improvement into current operations, and display root cause analysis of problems. 14. Ensure data quality, adherence to industry guidelines on use of data, profitability, business impact, and other risk-related metrics for self and members of the General Council. 15. Deliver quarterly market conduct assessment and extract thematic areas for actions to be taken by members. 16. Undertake comprehensive benchmarking of GAB against leading business chambers (e.g. Telecoms Chamber, Chamber of Mines, Chamber of BDCs, AGI, etc) with a view to establishing gaps that may exist. 17. Manage and develop industry-relevant contents for the GAB social media pages, and also ensure more social media visibility. 18. Help to promote both the GAB and Banks in Ghana online 19. Design an action plan for the year ahead, and review and work with the Executive Head of Research and the CEO to refine the plan on an ongoing basis to give effect to the objectives and defined above. |

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
· 1st Degree in any relevant field · A Master’s degree in Economics or related field At least 5 years of relevant work experience preferably in a banking research field. · Must have worked in a senior role in a Bank or related field · Experience advising senior management of complex organisations · A strong understanding of development issues. · Must have the ability to conduct detailed research and analysis that can result in constructive findings that would form the basis for addressing the root cause of economic problems facing the industry and economy at large · Must be detailed and results-oriented and demonstrate a positive attitude and a high level of enthusiasm for the role and the field of Research. · Ability to effectively apply statistically concepts to analysis · Ability to deliver timely, high-quality outputs that meet the specified brief of GAB · Ability to demonstrate a high level of ethical behaviour · Prior success building relationships and communicating with diverse groups of people · Exceptional ability to analyse and manipulate data in Excel · Administratively self-sufficient with demonstrated skill with Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Being versed in statistically softwares such as SPSS, R, Eviews, Stata, SmartPLS etc., will be an added advantage. · Positive, people oriented and energetic attitude · Troubleshooting mind-set with strong attention to detail · Aggregates large, complex datasets from multiple databases and creates insights reports. |

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE | · 1st Degree in either Banking & Finance, Economics, statistics, or any relevant field · A Master’s degree (MA, MSc.) in Economics, Banking and Finance, Statistics, or related field will be an added advantage. At least 2 years of relevant work experience preferably in a banking research field. · Experience in data analysis, research methodologies, and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, Eviews, Stata). · Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. · Excellent communication and presentation skills. · Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently when required. · Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outputs. · Ethical behaviour and a positive, enthusiastic attitude towards the role and the field of research. | ||||
